In fencing, extensive research has been conducted under what we have termed the Fencing Project. This project is led by Dr Xavier Iglesias and encompasses all research carried out in both Olympic and Paralympic fencing.
Within this project, we have mainly addressed two lines of research. The first focuses on improving knowledge of the specific bioenergetics of fencing and wheelchair fencing. The second is based on observational methodology and the use of innovative analytical techniques, such as polar coordinate analysis and T-pattern detection.
