Bioenergètica i rendiment neuromuscular en l’esport

Aquesta línia de recerca se centra en l’anàlisi dels mecanismes de subministrament d’energia durant l’activitat esportiva i els paràmetres neuromusculars que influencien l’aplicació de força. S’estudia com l’esportista produeix i utilitza energia, així com la interacció entre el sistema nerviós i muscular per generar força, elements clau per entendre i optimitzar el rendiment competitiu. L’objectiu principal és comprendre l’impacte directe dels processos metabòlics i les respostes neuromusculars en el rendiment esportiu. Amb un enfocament aplicat, aquesta línia busca proporcionar eines pràctiques per a la planificació d’entrenaments i l’optimització del rendiment, tant per a atletes d’elit com per a esportistes amateurs.

Hem implementat estudis exhaustius que analitzen la composició corporal i l’estat d’hidratació en esdeveniments d’ultra-resistència a través de tecnologies com l’anàlisi d’impedància bioelèctrica vectorial (BIVA). Aquesta línia de recerca també ha explorat la validesa dels models basats en la freqüència cardíaca per estimar el consum d’oxigen en esports com el tennis, esgrima i esgrima en cadira de rodes, així com les dinàmiques de VO2 en natació sobre diferents estils i distàncies.

En tennis els nostres estudis tenen un ampli ventall d’objectius, alguns dels quals s’han centrat en el desenvolupament de programes d’entrenament de força que millorin la velocitat del cop, essencial per al rendiment en aquest esport.

En l’àmbit de la natació, les nostres investigacions principals en bioenergètica formen part de l’Altitude Project, un projecte d’abast internacional, liderat pel Dr. Ferran A. Rodríguez,  on s’analitzaven diferents estratègies d’entrenament en alçada i a nivell del mar. També hi ha estudis on s’ha valorat l’anàlisi de la cinètica del consum d’oxigen i l’estimació del VO2max, amb un enfoc particular en les proves de velocitat i l’entrenament en altitud per a nedadors d’elit. La tesi doctoral del Dr. Diego Chaverri, amb diferents publicacions del projecte, és una part de la producció científica realitzada.

En triatló, vam iniciar la nostra recerca amb una anàlisi de la bioenergètica específica de la competició amb atenció a l’anàlisi del perfil d’intensitat durant competicions de llarga durada. També hem investigat els canvis en la massa corporal i l’anàlisi d’impedància bioelèctrica en esdeveniments d’ultra-resistència. Treballs més recents es centren en la utilització de la saturació d’oxigen muscular com a indicador de rendiment en triatló. Un dels aspectes més innovadors i recents de la nostra recerca inclou l’ús de la tecnologia d’espectroscòpia d’infraroig proper (NIRS), que permet analitzar la saturació d’oxigen muscular en situacions d’entrenament o simulació de competicions. Ho hem utilitzat en estudis sobre esgrima en cadira de rodes i triatló.

En natació artística s’ha desenvolupat un dels projectes més i portants en la literatura d’aquest esport, el Synchroproject, liderat pel Dr. Xavier iglesias, i mitjançant el qual s’ha pogut desenvolupar una línia de recerca en aquest esport on la bioenergètica en les rutines en competició oficial van tenir el seu major protagonisme. El SynchroProject ha generat molta producció científica. En l’àmbit de la bioenergètica destaquem la tesi de la Dra. Lara Rodríguez-Zamora.

En tennis s’han realitzat estudis sobre diferents mètodes per millorar aspectes específics del joc. Per exemple, s’ha investigat l’efecte de l’entrenament de força isomètrica específica per articulacions en la velocitat del servei en tennistes joves. També s’han analitzat els efectes de l’entrenament isoinercial o basat en màquines sobre el rendiment dels tennistes. També hem desenvolupat i validat proves específiques per avaluar la resistència en tennis, com el SET-Test (Specific Endurance Tennis Test), analitzant la resposta cardíaca i l’efectivitat tècnica dels jugadors. El Tennis Project, liderat pel Dr. Ernest Baiget té una extensa producció sobre aquesta línia de recerca.
