Paper accepted in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism

The paper entitled “The effects of intensity on V̇O2 kinetics during incremental free swimming“, authored by Kelly de Jesus, Ana Sousa, Karla de Jesus, João Ribeiro, Leandro Machado, Ferran A. Rodríguez, Kari L. Keskinen, João Paulo Vilas-Boas, and Ricardo J. Fernandes has been accepted for publication in published ahead of print in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism (JCR IF: 2.225).

The study showed that the fast and slow components of VO2 kinetics changed from low to severe swimming intensities (i.e. progressively greater amplitudes and faster time constants) across a 7×200 m incremental protocol. Within the bouts performed at low-moderate intensity swimmers showed great stability in all kinetics parameters, whereas at the heavy and severe intensities, faster kinetics and a pronounced slow component occurred.

The study was carried out in the Centre of Research, Education, Innovation and Intervention in Sport of the Faculty of Sport, and the Porto Biomechanics Laboratory, LABIOMEP, University of Porto, Portugal, in collaboration with the Finish Society of Sport Sciences, Helsinki, and our research group.

Congratulations to all!
